Scared to start a new series? We’ve got the perfect low-commitment entry point…

A crown to kill for artwork

It can be hard to start a new show, especially one that already has a lot of episodes.

Life's busy, your attention is pulled in a hundred directions, and committing to a long fiction series can start to feel like homework. Worse yet, you don’t even know if you’ll like it!

So we want to make this simple.

If you’ve been curious about Personal Demon but haven’t known where to begin, check out our 4-episode bonus arc “A Crown to Kill For”, which acts as a low-commitment entry point to ease you into the show. A self-contained story you can jump right into.

No catching up. No backlog. No pressure.

Why starting a new podcast feels weird sometimes

Even when something looks interesting, starting from the beginning of a serialised show can feel like a barrier. You might worry you’ve missed something important.

Or that you need to “slog through” earlier episodes before it starts to make sense.

Or you simply don’t have the time to commit to something that might take weeks or months to catch up on.

And honestly, that’s fair.

That’s why this bonus arc exists. This is a self-contained story set in the world of Personal Demon, but designed specifically so you don’t need any prior context to enjoy it.

It introduces the tone, the atmosphere and the emotional core of the show, but without requiring you to know anything that came before or after. Think of it as a doorway into the world, not a test you have to pass before you’re allowed in.

We produce similar stand-alone bonus arcs between each season of Personal Demon, to build on the existing story and hint what’s to come in the next season.

Plus, avid listeners will quickly see all of the little easter eggs we’ve hidden throughout the episodes (although, you won't miss out on anything even if you don't notice them... yet).

About A Crown to Kill For

A Crown to Kill For is a stand-alone arc set in the Personal Demon universe:

While preparing for the 1999 Hogarth High Winter Formal, four aspiring Snow Queens discover a cursed crown, and quickly their friendly competition turns ugly.

The story centres around Hannah, an honour roll student who has been nominated for Snow Queen, and must recon with how far some of her competitors will go to win the crown.
